Launched at Watches & Wonders 2015, the Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio 42mm ref. PAM 574 features a stainless steel case of 42 mm and the new hand-wound caliber P.1000. It has a red gold sibling with the PAM 575.

With its timeless Panerai design, the Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio - 42mm is a unique and immediately recognizable timepiece which combines history, contemporary high-end watchmaking, Italian design and Swiss manufacture. This watch is the ideal choice for all enthusiasts looking for a watch with pure lines but a strong personality, versatile and suitable to every situation. The black dial of the Radiomir 1940 3 DAYS Acciaio ÿ 42mm has large bar markers and figures with the typical Panerai sandwich structure invented at the end of the 1930s to maximise the visibility and legibility of the markings: two superimposed discs contain the luminous substance which shines through the holes in the upper one, which correspond to the dial markings. The sapphire crystal of the porthole on the back of the new Radiomir 1940 3 Days enables the construction and finish of the P.1000 calibre, a new hand-wound movement with a power reserve of three days that perfectly suits the proportions of the Radiomir 1940 case, which is 42 mm in diameter, to be admired. This model is supplied with a black alligator strap. The case is water-resistant to 5 bar (a depth of about 50 metres).

Movement

The P.1000 is a in-house hand-wound calibre with a power reserve of three days, launched in 2015. The movement has the fundamental functions ÿ hours, minutes and the seconds counter at 9 o'clock ÿ and it is 12 lignes (26.8 mm) in diameter with an overall thickness of 3.85 mm. Consisting of 152 components and with 21 jewels, the P.1000 calibre is solid, strong and reliable, and it is immediately recognisable as a Panerai calibre from both the technical and aesthetic points of view. To ensure maximum security and stability, the balance is held by a bridge with two supports, fixed by screws with threaded rings for micrometer adjustment of the height. The oscillation frequency is 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). With the small seconds dial at 9 o'clock ÿ another of the distinctive characteristics of many contemporary Panerai watches, directly descended from the historic models ÿ the new movement also contains the device which stops the balance and zeroes the seconds hand (seconds reset) when setting the time, for perfect synchronization of the watch with the reference signal.
